The Channings Hotel houses the Channings Restaurant
and Ochre Vita. With black-and-gold tartan drapes and
gilded mirrors, the Channings is an intimate gourmet
restaurant offering fixed-price European lunch and dinner
menus, Tuesday through Saturday. Ochre Vita is an informal
restaurant featuring Mediterranean-style lunch and dinner
dishes, snacks in the afternoon, drinks until late evening.
A complimentary, cooked-to-order Scottish and continental
buffet breakfast also is provided each morning.
This delightful hotel features a private garden with
mature trees and wrought- iron gates, along with a traditional
drawing room-style lobby, complete with comfortable leather
sofas, marble fireplace, brass chandeliers and bronze
statues. Two wood-paneled meeting rooms can accommodate
small groups less than 20. Filled with memorabilia and
relics, one room was once the library of explorer Sir
Ernest Shackleton, who owned the building in the early
20th century.
