The Sheraton Rittenhouse Square, an Environmental
Hotel is the first "ecosmart" hotel in the United
States. This new Philadelphia landmark showcases an environmentally
responsible combination of high-tech features. All the guest
rooms, meeting rooms and public areas (including two restaurants)
receive filtered fresh air around the clock and are totally
smoke-free.
State-of-the-art recycled, sustainable, non-toxic materials
are used throughout the hotel, including 100% organically
grown cotton for upholstered furniture and bedding. As an
additional environmental precaution, all cleaning and laundering
products used in the hotel are non-toxic.
|
| Located on the first seven floors of
a 16-story brick building, the 193 rooms overlook the city; some
have windows that open. Rooms range between 350 and 400 square
feet. All include complimentary wireless Internet access. An air-filtration
system continuously removes pollen, mold, and bacteria. The wallpaper
is made of recycled newsprint, and the boldly patterned carpeting
comprises remnants. Headboards, desks, and chairs are made of blond
wood; night tables are created from recycled shipping pallets.
Bed linens, drapes, and upholstery fabrics are 100% organic cotton.
Peach-colored marble bathrooms have telephones, marble tubs, massaging
showerheads, shower rails, and Bath & Body Works toiletries.
