The Royal Hawaiian was once the playground
of Hollywood celebs like Mary Pickford and Douglas Fairbanks.
The book The Pink Palace describes that era of opulence,
the "roaring twenties," when guests arrived in
chauffeur driven Rolls Royces, with servants unloading their
steamer trunks. Those fortunate travelers usually stayed
for a month or more, unwinding after the long voyage by ship.
Today, the hotel still carries the atmosphere of old movies
and romantic ballads, black-tie dinners and Champagne toasts. |
Rooms in the Historic Wing have
soft pastel floral walls, plush carpets, and custom made furniture
like canopied or four-poster beds, and Queen Anne-style writing
desks and dressers. There are no lanais. Large Luxury Garden
View and Ocean View rooms are very spacious, with separate sitting
area.
In the Royal Tower, each room has a private lanai with wonderful
views of the Pacific and the tropical sunsets.
The service is impeccable in every way... and isn't is nice
to have a chocolate on your pillow and turn-down every evening? |
Stop in on the third floor for
a refreshing swim, enjoy a cool tropical beverage at the
Ginger Terrace, experience the excitement of a Polynesian
Revue at the Hawaiian Hut, or dance the night away at Rumours.
It's a short walk to the Ala Moana Shopping Center, with
over 200 stores and restaurants. Just beyond, lies beautiful
Ala Moana Beach Park. The Hawai'i Convention Center made
its debut across the street, Summer 1998.
For some outdoors fun, enjoy our Wheels Deal and Beachside
